Natural menthol is a colorless needle-like or prismatic crystalline or white crystalline powder, with the special aroma of menthol, the taste of the first heat after cooling, in ethanol, chloroform, ether, liquid paraffin or volatile oil soluble, very slightly dissolved in water.

Natural menthol can be used as a fragrance agent for toothpaste, perfume, beverages and sweets. It can be used as a stimulant in medicine. It can cool and relieve itching when it acts on the skin or mucosa. It can be taken orally as a wind-driving drug. It can be used for headache and inflammation of nose, pharynx and larynx.

GB 2760-2011 National Food Safety Standard for the Use of Food Additives stipulates that natural menthol can be used as a natural flavor for food.
